January Eat Local Challenge

Locally Grown Poster

Take this eat local challenge this week. You won’t be disappointed.

Have you tried doing ALL of your weekly grocery shopping at a farmers market recently? The Tilton Winter Farmers’ Market has everything you need—and more. So, tomorrow morning, head on down to the the market with your list (and a few bags) and pick up what you need for the week. Whether it’s staples like veggies, cheese, meats and seafood, or sweet treats and wine, you can easily plan your menu around what’s available at the market.

We’re thrilled to welcome two new vendors this week: Snow Dragon Mountain Farm from Meredith and Big Banana from Gilford.

Snow Dragon Mountain Farm will offer certified organic winter vegetables, storage crops and certified organic honey. Donna and Albert Ducharme’s motto is “Local, Organic, Pure New Hampshire Quality and Care: Safe food that is good for you and the environment.”

Big Banana will round out the market nicely with an assortment of dried herb, fruits, beans and pastas. Big Banana’s motto is “All local, all the time.” Their company goals are to provide healthy, nutritious locally-grown fruits and vegetables at low prices. They do this by supporting smaller, local farmers and producers and, while they’re at it, they aim to bring good food to the poor and needy by supporting local charities.

Supporting local farms and producers by shopping at farmers markets is not only good for the local economy and community, but it’s sure to put some of the most delicious food on the table that you and your family have tasted.

For a taste of the market in the meantime, check out the full list of vendors.

See you at the Tilton Winter Farmers Market tomorrow! And, of course, bring a friend or two!

Shopping Crowd Swells as Market Continues to Grow

The Tilton Winter Farmers’ Market is growing in leaps and bounds and shoppers continue to turn out in droves! More than 1,260 people came through the front door last Saturday, and that doesn’t count those who managed to elude the counter by slipping in through other doors.

With this market becoming a destination hotspot, we’re more grateful than ever for the spacious, welcoming location made possible by AutoServ of Tilton; there’s plenty of room for shoppers to roam around as well as to catch up with friends. What a happening scene!

Our vendor list continues to grow, too, with several new additions. We currently have 44 amazing vendors participating in the market!! Please welcome the following vendors to the market:

  • The Bread Peddler/Mountain View Manna
  • Jehu Hot Sauce
  • Main Street Bookends
  • Stone Falls Gardens
  • Deb’s Baked Goods

So start your shopping list now, put your shopping bags in the car and invite a friend or two to join you at this week’s market. See you there!

Market Opens to Enthusiastic Crowd

Tilton Winter Farmers Market News Clip

What an amazing and successful first day!

The Tilton Winter Farmers Market opened today to more than 1,000 shoppers (easily—we couldn’t keep up with counting!), kicking off the winter farmers market season with enthusiasm and cheer. The market venue was perfect: three spacious rooms for vendors, lots of sunshine and plenty of room for shoppers to stop for a chat with their neighbors. Lively, toe-tapping market music was provided by Réagánta, a New Hampshire Celtic group. (View the video for a sample.) Samples of all kinds of goodies were available for tasting—something to satisfy everybody.

Thanks to all the wonderful vendors and volunteers who made today such a success. Thanks also for the generous support of AutoServ of Tilton. We’re off to a great start!

If you missed it today, the Tilton Winter Farmers Market will be happening every Saturday in January, February and March, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. See you there!

In the meantime, enjoy a peek at today’s market scene!

Apologies to any vendors whose names may have been omitted from the list at the end of this video! I will make corrections soon but, for now, the video has to stay put, as is, since the link is “out there.” So sorry! We love you all! ~ Eleanor
